Sigma Xi is an international scientific research honor society.[1] In addition to collegiate chapters, the society maintains area and company-based chapters. Following is a list of Sigma Xi chapters, with active chapters indicated in bold and inactive chapters or institutions are in italics.[1][2][3]

  1. Chapter formed at Case Institute of Technology. It consolidated with the Western Reserve chapter when the two colleges merged to form Case Western Reserve University.
  2. Chapter was formed at Syracuse University but is now an area chapter.
  3. The District of Columbia chapter is an area chapter serving members in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia metro area.
  4. Chapter was originally associated with McGill University but is now a community chapter.
  5. Chapter formed at the University of Wyoming but is now a statewide chapter.
  6. Chapter consolidated with the Case Institute of Technology chapter to form the Case Western Reserve chapter when the two colleges merged.
  7. Chapter formed at Tulane University but now includes the Great New Orleans area.

  9. This chapter originated in 1943 at the Brooklyn-based New York Technical Institute, and was called the Brooklyn Tech chapter. After school mergers, it is now located at Old Westbury on Long Island and called the Polytechnic/SUNY Old Westbury chapter.
  10. Chapter formed at the University of Vermont but is now a statewide chapter.
  11. Originally chartered as the Oregon Medical and Dental area chapter.
  12. Chapter was formed at the Alcoa Technical Center, now called Arconic Technology Center.
  13. Chapter formed at the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy, now called Missouri University of Science and Technology.
  14. The chapter formed at the University of Louisville but is now an area chapter.
  15. This chapter was formed at Virginia Medical School which merged to form VCU.
  16. Chapter serves Davenport, Iowa; Bettendorf, Iowa; Rock Island, Illinois; and Moline, Illinois.
  17. This school was originally situated six miles south, in Manhattan.
  18. Chapter originally served the University at Albany, SUNY, but is now a communitywide chapter.
  19. Chapter was originally affiliated with Quinnipiac University but is now a community based chapter.
  20. Chapter was established at Indiana University-Purdue University at Ft. Wayne which split into two institutions in June 2018.
  21. AUC Consortium is a collaboration between four historically black colleges and universities: Clark Atlanta University, Spelman College, Morehouse College, and Morehouse School of Medicine.
  22. Chapter formed at the David W. Taylor Naval Ship Research and Development Center which became the Carderock Division of the Naval Surface Warfare Center in 1992.
  23. GTE (General Telephone & Electronics Corporation) ceased operations in 1982.
  24. Chapter formed at Northeastern Oklahoma State University, now called Northeastern State University.
  25. University of the Sciences merged into Saint Joseph's University on June 1, 2022.
  26. The chapter was formed at the University of Tennessee Memphis, now called the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
