Notes

  1. The Labour total includes 43 MPs elected in 2024 (40 current MPs as at 16 July 2025) who are sponsored by the Co-operative Party and are designated Labour and Co-operative.[7]
  2. Some media outlets, such as BBC News, listed Labour's total as 412, by including the Speaker (who, to demonstrate his neutrality, had resigned his Labour Party membership on taking office).
  3. See defections, suspensions, and resignations for a breakdown of independent MPs.
  4. Sinn Féin's seven MPs follow a policy of abstentionism. They do not swear into the House of Commons, and do not take part in its formal processes.[9] The Speaker and deputy speakers (two Conservative and one Labour) by convention exercise only a casting vote.[10]
  5. I.e., if election in 2019 were held using 2024 constituency boundaries
  6. Elected as Labour, sitting as an Independent MP at the time of their resignation.
