Tor Tajiks
Ethnic community in China From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Tor Tajiks are Tajiks indigenous to the village of Tor in Xinjiang, China. The Chinese government officially regards them as members of the "Tajik nationality", along with the non-Tajik, Sarikoli- or Wakhi-speaking Pamiris of Tashkurgan County.[1] Although they are Iranic Tajiks, they speak a Turkic language unique to their ethnicity.[1]

Language and culture
The Tor Tajiks follow Tajik customs but speak a Turkic language intermediate between Uyghur and Uzbek.[1][2] Although intermarriages are common between Sarikolis and Wakhis, Tor Tajiks generally do not intermarry with the other two subgroups of the Tajik nationality.[3]
