സർവ്വകലാശാലകളിലേയും കോളേജുകളിലെയും മുതിർന്ന അധ്യാപകരെയാണ് സാധാരണയായി പ്രൊഫസർ എന്നാണ് വിളിക്കുന്നത്.(Professor ചുരുക്കത്തിൽ Prof.^[1]) . ലത്തീൻ ഭാഷയിൽ "person who professes". ^[1] മിക്കവാറും എല്ലാ സ്ഥാപനങ്ങളിലും ഏറ്റവും മുതിർന്ന അധ്യാപക തസ്തികയാണിത് ^[2][3]
