Jimmy Webb

Jimmy Layne Webb (fødd 15. august 1946) er ein USA-amerikansk låtskrivar, komponist og songar. Han har skrive fleire kjende songar som har selt i millionvis, som «Up, Up and Away», «By the Time I Get to Phoenix», «Wichita Lineman», «Galveston», «The Worst That Could Happen», «All I Know» og «MacArthur Park».^[1] Han har hatt suksessrike samarbeid med Glen Campbell, Michael Feinstein, Linda Ronstadt, The 5th Dimension, Art Garfunkel og Richard Harris.^[2]

Webb vart innlemma i Songwriters Hall of Fame i 1986 og Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame i 1990. Han mottok æresprisen til National Academy of Songwriters i 1993, Songwriters Hall of Fame Johnny Mercer Award i 2003, ASCAP «Voice of Music» Award i 2006 og Ivor Novello Special International Award i 2012. I følgje BMI er songen hans «By the Time I Get to Phoenix» den tredje mest framførte songen mellom 1940 og 1990.^[3] Webb er den einaste artisten som har fått Grammyprisen for musikk, tekst og orkestrering.^[3]
