Lew Soloff

Lewis Michael Soloff (20. februar 1944–8. mars 2015) var ein USA-amerikansk jazz-trompetist, komponist og skodespelar. Han kom frå New York City og studerte trompet ved Eastman School of Music og Juilliard School. Han var medlem av Blood, Sweat & Tears frå 1968 til 1973. Før dette arbeidde han med Machito, Tony Scott, Maynard Ferguson og Tito Puente.^[1]

I 1980-åra var han medlem av Members Only, eit jazzensemble som spelte inn for Muse Records.^[2]

Soloff var fast medlem og delvis leiar for Gil Evans sitt Monday Night Orchestra frå 1983. På debutalbumet sitt fekk han hjelp av Evans.^[3]

Soloff spelte ofte med jazzorkester verda over, som Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra (leia av Wynton Marsalis) og Magic City Jazz Orchestra (leia av Ray Reach).

Soloff døydde i 2015 av eit hjarteinfarkt i New York City.^[4][5]
