Oberhof er Thüringens vintersportssentrum med anlegg for bl.a. skiskyting, skihopping, bobsleigh og aking, samt alpinanlegg. Byen ligger ved den tidligere Bundesstrassen B247, men denne er nå erstattet av en ny motorvei med navn A71. Oberhof ligger ca. 17 km nord for byen Suhl.
Oberhof er vennskapsby med Lillehammer.
