The show went on hiatus during the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike between May and September.[276] As a result, only 21 episodes were produced in this season, rather than the 30 shows produced in the previous seven seasons, with production extending into the month of December, a month in which the show had previously gone dark.

  1. As part of the segment, the show announced a new brand of wine, "Cabernet SauvignJohn" (a spoof on Cabernet Sauvignon), which it sold on a limited basis on website CabernetSauvignJohn.com. The brand was priced at a loss and sold out within less than a day. $50,000 from proceeds of the sales were donated to sixteen food banks across California.[328]
