Etymology 1
From Proto-Sino-Tibetan *rV-pak (“shoulder”). Cognate with 髆 (OC *paːɡ, “shoulder blade; shoulder”). Probably cognate with 膀 (bǎng, “upper arm; shoulder”) (Schuessler, 2007).
