(IX^e siècle). Du moyen haut-allemand tol, dol, du vieux haut allemand tol, du vieux saxon dol, du langues germaniques occidentales *dula-, aussi du vieil anglais dol, du vieux frison doll, dull. Apparenté au néerlandais dol, à l'anglais dull^[1].
