A 91. Le Mans-i 24 órás autóversenyt 2023. június 10–11. között tartották meg a Circuit de la Sarthe versenypályán. Az esemény a 2023-as hosszútávú-világbajnokság negyedik fordulója volt.[1] A futam 100 éves centenáriumát ünnepelték, mivel a legelső versenyt 1923 májusában rendezték meg.[2][3] Éppen ezért nem a szokásos módon, délután három órakor, hanem egy órával később rajtoltatták el a mezőnyt, ezzel is tisztelegve a viadal előtt.[4]

Automatikus indulási jogot azok a gárdák kaphattak, melyek megnyerték a 2022-es Le Mans-i 24 órást, vagy teljes szezon futnak a WEC-ben. Nevezhettek továbbá azok a csapatok, akik bajnoki címet szereztek az európai, az ázsiai és az amerikai hosszútávú-bajnokságokban, vagy azok valamelyik kategóriájában. Ezenkívül az ACO (Automobile Club de l'Ouest) kiválasztott további indulókat azok közül, akik korábban jelezték a részvételi szándékukat a viadalon.[5][6]

Az FIA és a szervezőbizottság a 2010-es évek közepe óta lehetőséget biztosít a Garage 56 programban, hogy eltérő technikájú, kategórián kívüli autók is rajthoz álljanak. 2023-ban így nevezett a Hendrick Motorsports, amely egy Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 új generációs (7), átalakított NASCAR-autóval vett részt.[7][8] A konstrukciót a hétszeres NASCAR Cup Series-bajnok, Jimmie Johnson, a 2009-es Formula–1-es világbajnok, Jenson Button[9] és a 2010-es Le Mans-i 24 órás egyik győztese, Mike Rockenfeller vezette.[10]
