Rusty Anderson

Rusty Anderson (fødd 20. januar 1958) er ein USA-amerikansk musikar og låtskrivar som er mest kjend for arbeidet sitt som sologitarist for Paul McCartney, men han har òg arbeidd med ei lang rekkje artistar i tillegg til solokarrieren sin.^[1][2]

Han har spelt med artistar som The Police, Van Halen, The Runaways, Quiet Riot, Rick Derringer, Eddie Money, The Motels, ^[3][4] Elton John, Gwen Stefani, Michael Bublé, Cat Stevens, Lana Del Rey, Willie Nelson, Tim McGraw, Carlos Santana, Regina Spektor, Fishbone, Little Richard, og spelte på hitten «Livin’ La Vida Loca» av Ricky Martin.^[5]

Karriere

Anderson byrja spela elektrisk gitar som åtteåring. Då han var 13 skipa han det fyrste bandet sitt, Eulogy, som spelte hardrock og var verksamt i seks år.^[6]

Seinare skipa Anderson The Living Daylights, som delte scene med Fishbone og OMD. I denne gruppa var han hovudlåtskrivaren.^[7]

I 1993 skipa han i lag med Scott Cutler og Anne Preven, Carla Azar og Paul Bushnell bandet Ednaswap. Bandet var verksamt til 1999, og gav ut fire album på East West og Island Records. Det stod bak songen «Torn», som Natalie Imbruglia fekk ein stor hitt med.^[8][9]

Etter oppløysinga av Ednaswap blei Anderson studiomusikar for ei rekkje artistar. Han spelte med Paul McCartney på albumet Driving Rain, som kom ut i 2001.^[6] Deretter spelte han på den verdsomspennande turneen knytt til albumet, og har spelt med McCartney i studio og på turnear sidan.^[5][10]

For det første soloalbumet sitt, Undressing Underwater, inviterte Anderson Paul McCartney til å spele bass og resten av McCartney-bandet til å syngje korvokal på solosongen «Hurt Myself».^[11]

I 2013 starta Anderson Rusty bandet Anderson Afternoon i lag med den mangeårige samarbeidspartnaren Todd O'Keefe.^[12] Dei to hadde spelt i lag i mange år før dei offisielt danna eit band. Den fyrste singelen til Anderson Afternoon, Effortless, kom ut 30. april 2013.
