The Seventh Orissa Legislative Assembly was convened after 1977 Orissa Legislative Assembly election. After lifting of nationwide Emergency & Janata Party's win in 1977 election, Prime Minister Morarji Desai dismissed 9 Congress led state govt including Odisha by imposing President's rule under Article 356 and called snap election of these state's assemblies.[1] Janata Party came to power after winning in landslide of 110 seats.[2]
