List of countries by household final consumption expenditure per capita

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a list of countries by household final consumption expenditure per capita. The measure represents the market value of all goods and services purchased by households in a given year—excluding purchases of dwellings but including imputed rent for owner-occupied housing—divided by the country's mid-year population. It covers durable goods (such as cars, washing machines, and computers), payments to governments for permits and licenses, and the expenditures of nonprofit institutions serving households, even when these are reported separately.[1]

Because it reflects only direct household expenditure (plus imputations such as owner-occupied rent), the measure excludes the value of goods and services provided free of charge by governments, such as public education and healthcare. Consequently, it may understate actual consumption in countries with extensive public services.

The latest available figures for each country and territory are shown.
