Şebeke gerilimi, bir enerji iletim hattı ile son kullanıcılara iletilen gerilimin sayısal anma değeridir. Ülkeden ülkeye genellikle 110-250 volt arası değişmekle birlikte gerilimin frekansı da 50 veya 60 hertz'dir. Türkiye için şebeke gerilimi 230 V ve frekansı 50 Hz'dir.[1]

Priz tipleri
Ana madde: Priz

Priz tiplerini ifade ederken "A"dan "N"ye kadar olan harfler kullanılır. Her bir harf bir standart priz tipini temsil eder. Bir fişin kendisine atanmış belirli bir harf kodu olmadığı durumlarda, IEC TR 60083'te listelenen stil sayfası numarası ile tanımlanabilir.[2] Tüm prizler harf sistemine dahil değildir. Örneğin, Tayland Ulusal Standardı TIS 116-2549 tarafından tanımlanan fişler için herhangi bir tanımlama yoktur ancak bazı web siteleri bu standartta açıklanan üç pimli fişe "Tip O" olarak bahsedilir.
