വർണ്ണരഹിത ക്രിസ്റ്റലൈൻ ഖരപദാർത്ഥമായ ബെൻസോയിക് ആസിഡ് /bɛnˈzoʊ.ɪk/, C₇H₆O₂ (or C₆H₅COOH), ലളിതമായ ആരോമാറ്റിക് കാർബോക്സിലിക് ആസിഡ് ആണ്. ഗം ബെൻസോയിനിൽ നിന്നാണ് ഇതിൻറെ പേരുത്ഭവിച്ചത്. ഇതിൻറെ ഉറവിടം വളരെക്കാലം മുമ്പുതന്നെ അറിയപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു. ബെൻസോയിക് ആസിഡ് സസ്യങ്ങളിൽ സ്വാഭാവികമായി കാണപ്പെടുന്നു.^[8]പല ദ്വിതീയ മെറ്റബോളിറ്റുകളുടെയും ജൈവസംശ്ലേഷണത്തിൽ ഒരു ഇന്റർമീഡിയറ്റ് ആയി ഇത് പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നു.
