യൂറോപ്പിലെ 29 രാജ്യങ്ങൾ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്ന ഒരു പ്രദേശത്തെ വിളിക്കുന്ന പേരാണ് ഷെങ്ങൻ പ്രദേശം(Schengen Area). ഷെങ്ങൻ പ്രദേശ രാജ്യങ്ങളിലൂടെ സഞ്ചരിക്കുവാൻ പാസ്പോർട്ട് ആവശ്യമില്ല. ഈ രാജ്യങ്ങൾ തമ്മിലുള്ള അതിർത്തികളിൽ യാതൊരു വിധ നിയന്ത്രണങ്ങളും നിലവിലില്ല.അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര യാത്രികരെ സംബന്ധിച്ച് ഷെങ്ങൻ പ്രദേശം ഫലത്തിൽ ഒരൊറ്റ രാജ്യമായി വർത്തിക്കുന്നു. ഈ 26 രാജ്യങ്ങളിലും യാത്ര ചെയ്യുന്നതിനു ഷെങ്ങൻ വിസ എന്ന ഒറ്റ വിസ മാത്രമേ ആവശ്യമുള്ളൂ.1985 ലെ ഷെങ്ങൻ ഉടമ്പടിയിൽ നിന്നാണ് ഈ പ്രദേശത്തിന് ഷെങ്ങൻ പ്രദേശം(Schengen Area) എന്ന പേരു ലഭിച്ചത്.
